There is always a lively buzz before SingSing choir practices as this vibrant group of women catch up before we start the session. The choir sings from 9.45-11.00am and then many of the women meet up afterwards for coffee. Divided into sopranos and altos, singing is their passion and they usually stand to sing during the practice, making a great sound. This choir focuses on harmony singing, and achieves great performances of more challenging songs.
In March 2022 SingSing were invited to perform at the Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis to celebrate the World Day for Women. The theme was Empowering Women’s Voices and we all enjoyed preparing and performing a challenging programme which included ‘Think’ by Aretha Franklin, ‘Brave’ by Sara Bareilles, ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’ by The Judds and ‘It Means Beautiful’ from Everybody’s Talking about Jamie. It was a truly special, meaningful performance of really powerful music.
“It was lovely to see everyone attend and celebrate women, while supporting My Sisters’ House. The amazing choir from MusicSmart started our day off brilliantly with their selection of empowering, thought-provoking and uplifting songs. Thank you!”
My Sisters’ House
SingSing have a real talent for performing, and their Summer Showcase Performance was a huge success. Highlights included the classic ‘Lollipop’ as sung by The Chordettes, the beautiful song ‘There You’ll Be’ from the film ‘Pearl Harbour’ and their truly memorable version of ‘Hot Stuff’! These informal concerts give everyone a chance to share their love of singing and let their family and friends support their passion for music.
At their choir performances and at other social events SingSing collect for local charities and every year take part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser.
SingSing is linked with MusicSmart’s Angmering Voices. If you know you are not going to be able to attend one or more of your SingSing practices, you can attend Angmering Voices instead. See our Choir FAQs to find out how this could work for you. Members of the two choirs also meet up at workshops and socials.
